Today is the final day to get in on the savings of It Girl Nail Art's release/ preorder event!!! I received 1 of 3 stamping plates to review from a new US indie plate maker to the scene, It Girl Nail Art.
Here's a look at the three plates that are available from the It Girl Fashion Plates collection:
Aren't they gorgeous?? While some of the images are your stamping staples, there are quite a few unique images that I was really excited to see. A few notes about the pre-sale:
- Pre-sale for the first collection ends Tuesday, August 4th at 11:59pm. Since it’s a pre-sale, the plates will be manufactured after August 4th. Customers should expect about three to four weeks for manufacture and shipping.
- Individual plates will retail for $13.50 each plus shipping. For the pre-sale only, they are offering a bundle price of all three plates for $35. Once pre-sale is over, the bundle deal disappears!
What's pretty cool is that they will be
offering a high-quality custom plate option in the near future. It will be on a
group buy basis with a minimum order of 16 plates, with three levels of
customization available. Isn't that awesome? I know my fellow group buyers will be interested in getting in on that action! You can also submit your own
ideas in their "Suggestion Box" by filling out
the quick survey here: http://goo.gl/forms/EwdrVEQYmK
Of the three, I just so happened to receive my favorite of the bunch to review. I swatched the images quickly, using my Mundo de Uñas black stamping polish and jumbo translucent stamper from Chelle We Stamp, as soon as it came in the mail.

My first manicure features Yes Your Majesty by Stardust Polish as a base, stamped over with 62 Piñon by Mundo de Uñas. I added a few red rhinestones to my middle and ring finger for extra bling.
Here I used two polishes from Girly Bits Cosmetics that have been sitting in my untrieds, just crying out for me to put them to some use. The gradient base is Lover's Coral and Dash Away All by GBC, stamped over using 50 Pale Rose from Mundo de Uñas.
I changed up the positioning on this design, especially since I love how they look like "infinity" symbols. That's the great thing about the images on the It Girl Stamping Plates. Since the images are perfect squares, as opposed to the typical rectangular designs, they are easier to manipulate to get a different manicure without losing out on some of the image. Here I stamped over Test Your Love! from Hare Polish's Coin Operation: Fall 2013 collection, using 17 Gold from Mundo de Uñas.
Last, but certainly not least, is my favorite manicure from the first half of my review. Here I used 84, Charing Cross Road from Literary Lacquers as a base, and then stamped over it using 65 Lime from Mundo de Uñas.
Overall, the designs are awesome and the quality is definitely topnotch. The images measure 2.25cm all around, which is really cool because, since you're not so limited to a rectangle design, you have sort of a mini buffet design with enough room to change up the positioning of the images on your nails. My nails can tend to be a bit long for some plates but I had no problem getting full coverage. The minor bald spots were to no fault of the plate's etching, it was more of a user error since the etching is fairly deeper than other brands I own. The etching of the designs on plates IG102 and IG103 are deeper than IG101. Since I'm not used to working with the deeper etching, it was a little tricky at first but I quickly got the hang of it and found that you get less bald spots by double scraping in opposite directions without wiping the excess polish off on a paper towel. Almost like you're re-scraping the excess polish back into the image but in the opposite direction. I'm going to TRY to post a video of what I am talking about because I feel like it's easier to show you than explain it. I used the plate with regular nail polish as well and had no problems with pick up. Quick drying polishes may be trickier to use on this plate as it may dry out before you have a chance to transfer the image onto your stamper. A minor issue from the etching is that clean-up with a cotton ball was a little tricky so I used a lint-free cotton square to clean and then went over it in a circular light rubbing motion to remove any excess fuzzies.
What do you guys think of their plates? Personally, I am so impressed with the quality and can see myself using this plate often. I'm bummed that I won't be able to snag the other two plates before the pre-sale is over but will live vicariously through you guys. Make sure to tag #itgirlnailart on Instagram so I can stalk your creations! Word on the street is that the next collection should be released sometime in the fall so be sure to follow them at the links below. I am so excited for what else is in store from It Girl Nail Art!
